My laptop will not turn on after disassembly

Hi.

First: sorry for my bad English.

I have problem with my laptop.

After I tear down my laptop because USB port wont load any USBs in it nothing was popping up so I decided to tear it down to see whats the problem. After I tear it down I did not see any problem with USB ports so I put it back like what it was before I tear it down.

After that laptop didnt turn on anymore and I dont know what is the problem even I did not change anything in it.

You must have done something. Go back and review what you did. You may have incorrectly connected one of the ribbon cables.

These laptops require professional service, so its possible you accidentally did something to it accidentally. You may need to replace it or get it serviced.

Hi electrickid620,

IFIXIT is about helping people fix their devices themselves. Taking the device to professional services is only recommended after exhaustive testing, etc. has been done. That is mainly why people come to this site. Your advice is just a bit premature at this point. For example, the laptop may actually be booting up but the screen is blank. We don’t know at this point and that is the point.

While these steps may not be the answer they are the first steps in diagnosing the problem and eliminating possible causes. One question. Have you ever torn down a laptop before?

What is the laptop telling you? anything?

Next: You will want to first try these three combinations. Make sure power is off and unplugged when making changes.

  • Battery in and charger plugged in. Observe lights and listen for fan spinning.
  • Battery only with no charger. Again watch lights and listen.
  • Take out the battery and plug in charger. Same again.
  • Unplug charger with battery out and gently hold the power buuton down for 30 seconds.

With just the charger plugged in try turning on laptop. Anything.

  • If you get lights you could try connecting to your TV with the HDMI cable.

We await your reply. Good luck. Please dont hesitate to ask any questions.
